loving awareness

I think I’ve finally realized what Ram Dass has been saying all these years about being ‘loving awareness’.

It’s feeling love, without having to be someone. It’s surrendering one’s ‘personhood’ to see someone else in their totality. It’s about pure awareness.

The people around us are hurting. Our society is hurting. We are plagued with fear, trauma, and pain. It’s how we arrived here in the first place.

With loving awareness, though, we can start to see beyond all of that. We can see the potential in others.

Loving awareness never dies and so, it keeps us going when we decide to drift back into our ‘personhood’.

Loving awareness is like moving through life with rose colored glasses. It’s seeing the suffering, pain, trauma, death, isolation, and loneliness, and watching it from a distance.

It’s seeing the hurt with love, instead of something that needs to be fixed or changed. It’s knowing, instead, that with enough love, the pain will go away on its own.

It’s seeing things, people, and places as if you were a ghost — just floating by, watching — choosing to spread light to dark, love to hate.

Loving awareness is just existing with less ‘self’ and more love.
