The Wisdom of Ram Dass

Be here now. It’s my go to. Whenever I’m anxious or upset or overwhelmed, I turn to Ram Dass and his teachings. I listen to the Be Here Now Network, and within minutes, my nervous system grows calm and I can feel my feet on the ground.

I’m not sure what it is, but his words always seem to hit in just the right places at just the right time.

One of his quotes that recently stood out to me was this, “A lot of our suffering is in our inability to see our own beauty”.

The beauty of humanity. The beauty of the struggle. The beauty of beauty. We are so caught up in our own struggles that we often forget the beauty in all of it. We forget the beauty of this moment. Of this time and place. Of these people. This breath.

The simplicity of each moment is what makes life so rich and so full. There is so much to be acknowledged and appreciated in this very moment within time and space — it’s almost overwhelming.

Ram Dass allows me to spread my awareness beyond myself, nd tune into the oneness of everything. When I sit back and listen to him speak, my being melts into the Earth and into the present moment. Suddenly, there isn’t any past or future moment, there is just right here and now.

I take a few, deep breaths. Feeling the breath move gently through my body. It’s so mundane, and yet so lovely, and rich, and peaceful.
