The fact that trans people get surgery to change their bodies because there is such a limited, unimaginative, and non creative way to view gender in western culture is absolutely ridiculous.
We have a limited capacity to see beyond the gender binary and it is a result of our cultural conditioning. This model of gender limits everybody.
When we can start to change the belief, as a society, that one person’s body equals a specific set of characteristics and behaviors and clothing, we can open up space for more possibility about how each of us shows up in this world — how we truly want to look and dress and act, without the world telling us how.
